- What is a ‘hazard’?
- A hazard is anything with the potential to cause harm.
- Hazards which can cause immediate physical injury are called Safety hazards. Such as Moving vehicle, Electricity, Toxic or other hazardous chemicals, violent people etc.
- Describe different types of hazards?
- Health hazards are divided into 5 types which causes occupational diseases or ill health and occur when expose to longer period of time.
- Mechanical hazards inadequately guarded machines parts
- Chemical hazards of toxemic gasses, vapors, fumes, smoke in dust.
- Electrical hazards: in adequately insulated line wires
- Fire hazards: chemical reaction, electrical Arcs
- Radiation hazards: ultra violet rays
- Pollution: water pollution & noise pollution
- Explain the types of hazards?
- Chemical Hazards Like Sulfuric acid, Cement dust, silica etc.
- Physical Hazards e.g. Vibration, noise, Extreme of temperature etc.
- Biological hazards e.g. bacteria, virus etc.
- Ergonomic, e.g. Repetitive movement, stooping, twisting, Poor posture etc.
- Psychological hazards e.g. stress and trauma.
- What is potential hazard?
- Anything that may can cause harm to people, the environment, assets and business.
