    • Causes of Fire;
      • Spark (Electrical).
      • Source of ignition. (Naked flame)
      • Static electricity.
      • Friction.
      • Smoking.
      • Reaction of chemicals.
      • Poor housekeeping.
      • Poor maintenance of equipment.
  3. What are the types of fire?
    • Class A- Combustible fire (trash, paper, wood, plastic).
    • Class B-flammable fire Oil, liquid and gases fire.
    • Class C- Electrical fire.
    • Class D-Metal fire (Reaction of chemicals).
    • Class K- kitchen fire (Vegetable oil or fat).
  4. What are the fire control methods?
    • There are 3 methods to control fire.
      • Smothering (Removal of oxygen).
      • Starvation (Removal of fuel).
      • Cooling (Removal of heat).
  5. Explain the types of portable fire extinguishers used for different kinds of fire?
    • Pressurized Water Extinguishers are used for Class A fires only.
    • Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Extinguishers are used for C fires.
    • Multipurpose Dry Chemical Extinguishers are used in Class A, B or C fires.
    • Metal fire Extinguishers(Halon) are used in Class D fires.
    • Wet chemical fire extinguishers are used in kitchen fire.
  6. What are the stages of fire?
    • Incipient.
    • Growth.
    • Fully Develop.
    • Decay.
  7. What is Fight or Flight (Flee) analysis?
    • FIGHT OR FLIGHT ANALYSIS.
    • Use the fire Extinguisher only if,
    • Building is being evacuated.
    • Fire Department is being called.
    • Fire is small & contained.
    • Exit is clear.
    • You can stay low & avoid smoke.
    • Proper extinguisher is at hand.
  8. How to use portable fire extinguisher?
    • Follow the term P.A.S.S
      • Pull the pin.
      • Aim the nozzle.
      • Squeeze the lever.
      • Sweep from side to side.
  9. What is R.A.C.E?
    • RACE procedure should be followed before attempting to extinguish fire.
      • R means Rescue/ Remove :- Rescue or remove any person in immediate danger.
      • Alert/ active :- Pull the nearest fire alarm to alert workforce.
      • Confine :- Close all door to hazard or fire
      • Extinguish/ Evacuate :- Extinguish the fire if safe to do so or evacuate to your nearest assembly area.
  10. What is Fire Prevention and Fire Protection?
    • Fire prevention: Fire prevention involves proactive measures taken to prevent fire hazards so that chance of happening fire is reduced. It includes but not limited to inspection, testing and maintenance of systems, Proper housekeeping, risk assessment, segregation and proper storage of Flammable and combustible materials, staff training and conducting regular drills.
    • Fire protection: Fire protection are the system components to detect and prevent fire and reduce their consequences.
      • It includes but not limited to fire alarm detection system (Heat detector, smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector).
      • Fire extinguisher, fire hydrants and sprinklers systems etc.
  11. What are the important points to be observed for fire prevention?
    • Good housekeeping
    • No smoking
    • Use of fire resistant paint
    • Electrical safety
    • Fire check doors
    • Naked flame safety
    • Separate storage of hazardous chemicals
  12. Name firefighting equipment?
    • Portable fire extinguishers (A, B, C type).
    • Fixed firefighting equipment (Sprinkler and hydrants, Fire hose reel)
    • Mobile firefighting equipment (Fire tenders)
  13. What is the minimum oxygen required to set fire?
    • 16 percent.
  14. Write uses of extinguisher for purpose?
    • Water type extinguisher: Class A fire (not be B & E)
    • Foam type extinguisher: Class B fire (S.B + A.S. =Co2)
    • Carbon dioxide extinguisher: Class C Fire
    • DCP Extinguisher: Class C, D or E
  15. What precaution is necessary for project of fires?
    • Buildings and plants shall be so laid out and roads, passage ways etc.
    • Doors and windows shall be located in suitable positions on all external walls of the building.
    • Smoking lighting or carrying matches are to be prohibited
    • Gas cylinders should not be stored near high flammable substances
    • Flammable liquids shall be stored in suitable containers with close fitting covers.
    • In every factory has to suitable firefighting equipment
    • All firefighting equipment shall be subjected to routine maintenance inspection and testing by proper trained persons.
    • Sufficient number of persons shall be trained in the proper handling of firefighting equipment.
  16. Precaution for burn person?
    • It fire catches a single person’s cloth; he should immediately roll on the floor.
    • No lotion of any kind should be applied on the burn area
    • In case of burns due to corrosive chemicals, the burn parts should be flooded with water
    • The burn area should be covered with dry sterile dressing
    • Physical shock of the person is treated by giving him weak tea or coffee
    • In major cases the patient should be sent to hospital as quickly as possible
  17. What is LEL?
    • LEL means Lower Explosive Limit, The minimum concentration of flammable gases or vapors present in air which can ignite upon providing ignition source is called LEL.
  18. What is UEL?
    • The maximum concentration of flammable gases or vapors present in air which can ignite upon providing ignition source is called (UEL) Upper explosive limit.
  19. What is Flashpoint?
    • The minimum temperature in which liquid gives enough vapor to ignite is called Flashpoint.
  20. Can we use CO2 fire extinguisher in confined spaces?
    • CO2 extinguisher shall be avoided as long as possible because it will cause oxygen deficiency.
  21. How far should be the fire extinguisher from hot work?
    • 10 to 15 feet.
